It’s day 3 of our "5-Day Tournament Transformation" series! We trust that the insights from Days 1 and 2 have sparked some exciting ideas to level up your golf tournaments.

Today, we're looking at the art of turning your tournaments into not just memorable events but also profitable ones. It's time to unlock the potential of strategic sponsorships.

The Power of Profitable Partnerships

Sponsorships can be a game-changer for your tournaments. They not only contribute to the financial success of your event but also enhance the overall experience for players and spectators. Let's dive into some savvy strategies to make sponsorships work for you:

  1. Sponsored Surfaces: Not all sponsorships are created equal. There are obviously your typical sponsors who just get their name on banners and flyers (and we love those too). But let’s start thinking outside the banner - where else can we sell placements to these sponsors?

Looking back to day 2, we can leverage our tournament software to add sponsors logos to scorecards, cart signs, the live leaderboard, hole by hole sponsors, etc. All of these placements are areas you can ask for sponsorship dollars to help run your events.

  2. Win-Win Sponsors: These are by far our favorites. We briefly touched on this in day 1 but there are sponsorships that add to the tournament experience and get players excited. A course in Seattle ran a deal sponsored by Srixon where the first hole in one in the event series got a custom set of irons. Reach out to your contacts and see if any are interested in something similar. It might not necessarily get you any extra revenue, but it’s something you can likely offer to your players at no cost, since the brands will be happy to get their name out there. Win-Win!

Another example would be a free beer or free products hole where a rep from a company looking to get their name out there would be on site to provide your players with freebies during the round. We’ve seen this work countless times and many local brands would be thrilled to get in front of your audience in person, it’s just a matter of reaching out!

  3. Prize Sponsor Opportunities: It's not just about placing logos on banners. Have sponsored closest to the pin or long drive contests. You could even sell a hole in one sponsorship (different than above), where you purchase the insurance for them and charge a little extra on top.

This is the place to start getting creative, there are so many options to explore.

Why Sponsorship Matters

As we wrap up Day 3, consider this your launching pad into a world where sponsorships aren't just financial boosts but strategic partnerships that elevate your tournaments to new heights. Your commitment to exploring sponsorship strategies showcases your dedication to creating top-tier golf tournaments. By incorporating sponsors strategically, you're not just adding dollars to the bottom line—you're building lasting partnerships that elevate the prestige of your events.

Next Steps

Get ready for Day 4, where we'll guide you through the art of gathering information from your players with ease. It's all about ensuring your tournaments cater to the preferences and expectations of your audience.

Keep the momentum going, and let's make your tournaments the best in town!
