Welcome back to our "5-Day Tournament Transformation" series! We hope the insights from the past three days have fueled your enthusiasm for making your golf tournaments better.

Today, we're putting the spotlight on a crucial aspect: understanding your players. It's time to demystify the art of information gathering, making it easy for you to tailor your tournaments to precisely what your players desire.

At the end of the day, what we suggest might be helpful… but it also might not be. It really depends on you and your players. In order to find out what will work, the best way is to get that information from your players.

The Easy Way to Player Insights

"Feedback is the magic word. It's the key to improving anything." - Elon Musk

Some of the most successful people and companies know how important feedback is. One of Facebook’s core values is “Feedback is a gift.”

But how do you go about getting feedback from your players? In our experience, the best way to get feedback is by immediately sending out a feedback survey to your players after their tournament rounds. This might seem a little heavy handed if you run a lot of tournaments. If that’s the case, you can do this on a recurring schedule (once a year, once a quarter, etc.).

The best part about this is there are an incredible amount of free tools to use to collect this feedback. Google forms, qualtrics, typeform, etc. Pick your choice, you really can’t go wrong. What is more important is what you ask.

  1. Formats that Thrill: Discover hassle-free methods to survey your players about their preferred tournament formats. Whether it's stroke play, match play, or a unique hybrid, getting a pulse on player preferences ensures each event caters to their playing style. For example, some players hate playing in alternate shot, but love playing in scrambles. Keep tabs on what works well, and what formats you might want to swap out.

  2. Inclusive Entry Fee Extras: Ever wondered what extra perks would entice your players to sign up without breaking the bank? Be it tee prizes, post-tournament meals, or special experiences that enhance the overall value of your tournaments.

  3. Continuous Feedback Mechanism: Turn player feedback into a powerful tool for improvement. Establishing a user-friendly feedback loop that keeps communication open and ensures each tournament is a stepping stone to a better, more enjoyable experience.

Why Player Insights Matter

As we conclude Day 4, the stage is set for you to become the maestro of your tournaments, orchestrating events that resonate with your players' desires and expectations. At the end of the day, the success of your tournaments lies in the hands of those who play in them. The insights you gather, the preferences you understand, and the improvements you make based on feedback will shape the future of your events.

Next Steps

Stay tuned for Day 5, where we'll guide you through tailoring your tournaments to be enjoyed by every player, ensuring your events stand out in the memories of all who participate.

Keep the momentum going, and let's continue transforming your tournaments into something truly special!
